Sputter targets may also be cut from sintered plate (if a pure
element) or hot-pressed (for ceramics)

Here is one sputter target cooling after arc-melting in argon. On the bottom left is a cast slug in its copper hearth.
Some sputtering targets have to be hot-pressed: oxides, pure boron, etc.
The targets are then machined to within the tolerances of the customer's sputtering system. We do this in house; we have a full machine shop with lathes, mills, and grinders.

Finally, our targets are vacuum-sealed and shipped to the customer, usually as soon as they are finished. We have quick turn-around times because we specialize in the research and development market.
